Magic Christmas in Dublin

Christmas is my favourite time of the year to spend in Dublin! Despite the cold, the city is fully alive! Colorful street, Christmas lights and shops’ decorations are transforming the city in a true wonderland. Make sure to participate to the Christmas lights switch on parade! This year the magic starts on Sunday 19th November at 5.30! Two processions will start simultaneously: one in Mary Street and one in Grafton Street and they will both culminate in O’Connell Street – the Spire! The parade will be accompanied by audio visual wonders so make sure to find a great spot to admire the show.

But the Christmas lights show is not the only reason why is totally worth visiting Dublin at Christmas! As in most of the cities, also in Dublin there is plenty of opportunities to hunt for your last minute gift or funky festive decoration! You will find your bargain at the Dublin Flea Market!

Stroll along 135 stalls where you can find Irish contemporary design, hand-made craft, art, books, antiques, collectibles, retro, vintage, furniture, clothes, jewellery, cosmetics, music and food.

The Market is on from December 7th to December 10th at The Point Square in Dublin 1.

The opening times are: Thursday and Friday – 1pm to 8pm

Saturday and Sunday – 11am to 6pm

If Shopping is not your thing, you can entertain yourself in an Après Ski Party! Yes, that’s right, Après in Dublin! Even without the snowy slopes, this year it will be possible to be the part of a typical Après party! The entire George’s Quay will be transformed in a gigantic traditional ski lodge. With Après fun activities, street food and great vibes, it’s going to be a perfect place for a Christmas party with your friends! Among the organizers’ promises: full Après band and Dj every evening, snow machines and winter treats, games and activities for all, tasty street food and wide selection of drinks including the heart and body warming Gluhwein. Après will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5.30 to 9.30 pm, from 30th November to 23rd December 2017.

But isn’t Christmas all about lights? If you are visiting with your family and friends you should definitely check out the Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo! This is pure light magic created by combining a spectacular colourful hand crafted lanterns with the unique setting of Dublin Zoo. All illuminated in the darkness! It is a Must See as this magic experience is hard to describe!

Chinese craft art and food will be available at the exhibition.

Wild Lights opens on Friday 3rd November 2017 and runs until Sunday 7th January 2018 from 5 to 9 pm.
